Panel Upgrades in Cleburne

If your panel is out of breaker space, runs warm, or can't keep up with a new EV charger or heat pump, we'll size a replacement to your real load, handle the permit and inspection, and keep your home protected and clean while we work.

When a New Panel Is the Right Call

Your electrical panel splits incoming power into the circuits that run your home. When it's undersized, worn out, or a brand known for breakers that fail to trip, every new appliance adds strain. A panel upgrade replaces the box and breakers, and often brings the service up to 200 amps so you have room to grow.

Not every tripping breaker means you need a new panel. Sometimes one bad breaker or a loose connection is the real problem, and we'll tell you that. If a repair will do, we'll point you to our electrical repair service instead.

Panel work happens where people live, usually in a garage, hallway, or utility room. We lay down drop cloths, cover nearby shelves and stored items, and clean up drywall dust and wire scraps before we leave each day.

What Your Panel Upgrade Includes

A load calculation

We total the appliances, heating and cooling you run today, then factor in anything on your wish list, like an EV charger, a pool pump or a bigger AC unit. That figure tells us whether 100, 150 or 200 amps fits, so you don't pay for capacity that sits unused.

Breakers matched to current code

The old box comes out and a replacement goes in, with every breaker brand-new and made for that panel. Circuits that today's code says need AFCI or GFCI protection get it, and wires that were doubled up under one breaker are split onto spaces of their own.

Service entrance and meter base

If the meter base or service entrance cable outside is corroded, cracked or too small for the new amperage, we replace it as part of the job and coordinate the disconnect and reconnect with the utility.

Grounding and bonding

We check and correct the grounding electrode system and bonding to water and gas lines. It's hidden work, but it's a big part of what makes a panel safe.

A clear circuit directory

Every breaker gets a typed, accurate label. No more guessing which one runs the kitchen.

Permit, inspection and cleanup

We pull the permit as required by the local jurisdiction, meet the inspector, and leave the area swept, wiped down and patched where we opened the wall.

Signs Your Panel Needs Attention

  • Breakers trip often

A breaker that trips once in a while is doing its job. One that trips every time the AC and dryer run together means the panel or circuit is working at its limit.

  • Lights dim when the AC kicks on

A noticeable flicker every time the compressor starts can point to a weak connection or a service that's too small, especially during long Texas summers when the AC rarely gets a break.

  • Heat, buzzing or a burning smell

A panel cover that feels warm, a steady buzz, or scorch marks on breakers are not things to wait on. Turn off what you can and book a visit.

  • No room for new circuits

If every slot is full and earlier work used tandem breakers or double taps to squeeze more in, there's no safe way to add an EV charger, generator hookup or new kitchen circuit.

  • An older or recalled panel brand

Fuse boxes, and certain older panel brands with a history of breakers that fail to trip, are good candidates for replacement even if nothing seems wrong yet.

How Your Panel Upgrade Day Goes

  1. 1

    Visit and load check

We look at your current panel, meter base and grounding, ask what you plan to add, and run the load numbers. You get a written scope and price before anything is scheduled.

  2. 2

    Permit and utility scheduling

We file the permit and line up the utility disconnect when the service needs it. You'll know the date and roughly how long the power will be off.

  3. 3

    Protect, then swap

We cover floors and nearby belongings first, then shut off power, remove the old panel and land each circuit in the new one. Most swaps are finished in a single working day.

  4. 4

    Test, inspect, clean

We test every circuit, label the directory, and clean the work area. After the inspector signs off, we walk you through the new panel and leave the paperwork with you.

What Shapes the Price of a Panel Upgrade

Two panel upgrades on the same street can cost very different amounts, because what's behind the cover and outside at the meter varies a lot. We price from what we see at your home and put each part on a written estimate, so you know what you're paying for before work begins.

Amperage and panel size
Moving from 100 to 200 amps usually means a larger panel, heavier service wire and sometimes a new meter base.
Condition of the service equipment
A corroded meter base, brittle service cable or missing ground rod adds parts and labor.
Panel location
Swapping a panel in the same spot is simpler than relocating it, for example out of a closet or bathroom where code no longer allows one.
Code updates on existing circuits
Current code may require AFCI or GFCI breakers on some circuits, and any double taps or undersized wires we find have to be corrected.
Permit and utility coordination
Permit fees and the time to schedule a utility disconnect are part of the job and appear on your estimate.

Common Questions About a New Panel

Something not covered here? (682) 281-9399

How much of the day will we be without electricity?

On a typical swap, expect your home to be without power for most of a working day. When the meter base or service wire is being replaced too, the reconnect time also depends on the utility. We share the schedule in advance so you can plan around the fridge, medical devices and anyone who works from home.

What credentials stand behind your panel work?

The work is done under a Master Electrical License, and we're a licensed electrical contractor, TECL 36609. Panel replacements also need a permit and inspection, and we take care of both for you.

Do I really need 200 amps?

Not always. If you're not adding major loads, a new 100 or 150 amp panel may be enough. The load calculation tells us, and we'll explain the numbers instead of defaulting to the biggest option.

Will there be a mess in my garage or hallway?

We cover the floor and anything stored near the panel before we start, and we clean up dust, wire clippings and packaging before we leave. If we cut drywall to run new wires, we'll tell you where and patch the opening.

Is the work covered after you leave?

Yes. Our panel upgrades come with a 1-year workmanship warranty. If something about how we installed it isn't right during that year, give us a call and we'll set up a visit to look at it.

Can you set up my panel for an EV charger or generator?

Yes. We plan breaker space and capacity for those additions during the upgrade. Our EV charger installation and generator installation services can follow right after, or on the same visit if the load allows.
