Lighting Installation in Cleburne With a Tidy Finish

From a single porch light to a kitchen full of recessed cans, ceiling fans, pendants and cabinet strips, we wire new lighting to code and put it on switches that make sense. We cover floors and furniture before the first ceiling cut and vacuum up drywall dust before we leave each day.

New lighting, planned around how you use each room

Good lighting starts with a plan. We walk the room with you, ask where you read, cook or work, and mark fixture spots before anything gets cut. Then we check what the existing circuit can carry, so a new run of recessed lights doesn't overload a circuit that already feeds half the house.

Most installs mean cutting ceiling openings, fishing cable through walls and spending time in the attic. That work makes dust and debris. We lay drop cloths and runners, cover furniture, wear shoe covers inside and clean as we go. When we pack up, the only sign we were there should be the new light.

The work is done under a Master Electrical License, and our company is a licensed electrical contractor in Texas, TECL 36609.

What our lighting installation covers

  1. 01

    Recessed lighting

We lay out spacing for even light without dark corners. Where ceilings touch insulation, we use IC-rated housings or slim LED wafer lights. Openings are cut to the fixture's exact size, so there is little drywall to fix afterward.

  2. 02

    Pendants and chandeliers

Heavy fixtures need a box rated to hold them. We check the existing box and replace it if needed, set the hanging height with you and level the fixture before we call it done.

  3. 03

    Ceiling fans

A fan needs a fan-rated box and solid support above the ceiling. We swap old light boxes for rated braces, balance the blades, and can wire separate switches for the fan and the light kit.

  4. 04

    Under-cabinet and accent lights

Kitchen task lighting, toe-kick strips and display lights, with the wiring hidden and the drivers placed where you can reach them later.

  5. 05

    Outdoor lighting

Porch, soffit, flood and path lights with weather-rated fixtures and boxes, plus GFCI protection where code calls for it. We pick gaskets and fixtures that hold up to North Texas summer sun, and add timers or photocells if you want lights that run themselves.

  6. 06

    Switches and dimmers

Dimmers matched to your LED fixtures so they don't flicker or hum, three-way switching for stairs and hallways, and smart switches if you'd like to control lights from your phone.

Signs your home is ready for new lighting

  • Rooms that stay dim

If you reach for lamps in the daytime or squint at the kitchen counter, one center fixture is probably doing a job meant for four or five.

  • LEDs that flicker or buzz

This usually comes from an older dimmer that wasn't built for LED loads. A matched dimmer often fixes it, and we test before replacing anything else.

  • Fixtures that run hot

Brown rings on the ceiling or a fixture too hot to touch can point to the wrong bulb, a worn socket or a loose connection. Turn it off and have it checked. If the cause is in the wiring, our Electrical Repair service handles that.

  • Dark entries and yard

A dark porch, driveway or back gate makes coming home at night harder than it should be. Motion or dusk-to-dawn fixtures solve it without anyone remembering a switch.

  • A new layout

Moving an island or opening a wall changes where light needs to fall. If the project goes beyond lighting, see Remodel & Addition Wiring.

How a lighting install day goes

  1. 1

    Walkthrough and layout

We look over the room, where the switches sit and how we'll reach the attic, then mark fixture locations together. Before anyone picks up a tool, you'll have the written scope and price to approve.

  2. 2

    Cover floors and furniture

Drop cloths run from your door to the work area, furniture is covered or moved with your OK, and we tape plastic around ceiling cuts where dust would fall.

  3. 3

    Wire and mount

We cut openings, run cable, confirm the circuit load, then install boxes, fixtures, switches and dimmers. Any permit the job needs is pulled and inspected as required by the local jurisdiction.

  4. 4

    Test, explain, clean up

We turn everything on, test dimming and switching, and show you how the controls work. Then we vacuum the dust, pick up wire scraps and haul away the boxes and packaging.

What affects the price of lighting installation

We price lighting work after we've seen the room and the attic, because two similar-looking ceilings can hide very different amounts of work. You'll know the scope and the number before we start. If something changes along the way, we tell you before doing it.

Number and type of fixtures
A single fan swap and a kitchen full of recessed lights are different jobs. Each fixture adds its own box, wiring and mounting time.
Getting wire above the ceiling
When a room has a roomy, open attic overhead, running cable goes quickly. Vaulted ceilings, a second story above or a tight crawl over the room take longer to fish wire through, and Texas summer attic heat can affect when we plan that part of the job.
Existing circuit or a new one
Adding lights to an existing switch costs less than running a new circuit from the panel. If your panel is full, we'll explain the options, which may include a panel upgrade.
Fixtures and controls
You can supply your own fixtures or have us source them. Heavy chandeliers, smart switches and specialty LED drivers add parts and labor.

Lighting installation questions

Can you install light fixtures I already bought?

Yes. We'll check that the fixture is listed for the location, such as a damp or wet rating for a porch or bathroom, and that it suits the box it will hang from. If a fixture isn't a safe fit, you'll hear that from us before it goes up.

Will my lighting project need a permit?

It depends on the scope of the work and what your local jurisdiction requires. A simple fixture swap often doesn't, while new circuits usually do. When one is required, we pull it and meet the inspector, so that part is off your plate.

How much mess should I expect?

Cutting ceiling openings makes some dust, but we contain it. Floors and furniture are covered, plastic goes up around the cuts, and we vacuum and wipe down before we leave each day. Packaging and scrap leave with us.

How long does a lighting install take?

Swapping a few fixtures usually takes part of a day. A full room of recessed lights with new switching can take a day or longer, mostly depending on attic access. We'll give you a time estimate along with the written scope.

Is the work covered by a warranty?

Yes. Our lighting installations come with a 1-year workmanship warranty. If something we installed isn't working right because of how we installed it, let us know and we'll come back to sort it out.

Do you install outdoor lights outside Cleburne?

We do. Along with Cleburne, we install porch, flood and landscape lighting for homes in Joshua, Keene, Burleson and other nearby towns. Our Service Areas page lists the full range.
